Mechanical/Machine Embossing

With the mechanical or machine embossing method, you rely on the benefits and functions of a machine or tool to create your embossed impressions. This is similar to the hand held embosser only the machine will provide you with one or several embossed impressions on a page.

The use of these machines greatly expands your embossing capabilities. These machines, made for crafters, are easy to operate. The manufacturer's have, for the most part, provided a great selection of inserts, dies or templates...with just about anything you'd want in the way of embossed impressions. Where they don't have a die or template to meet your needs, there is still the Hand Tooled Reliefing you can do.

Most of these machines will also do die cutting, or die cutting machines will do embossing--which ever. Most of the machines were produced with die cutting as their principal function, but because of the way the machine works, it lends itself to embossing with only changing from die cut blocks to embossing dies or templates.

This machine will not only cut a shape, but emboss a shape, or if you prefer it will both cut and emboss a shape. This machine will accept many of the dies you already own. You can use a wide range of crafting materials. Cuttlebug folds up compactly, making this especially helpful for papercrafters who have limited space to store their supplies and equipment.

The Sizzix Systems: Big Shot Die-Cutting/Embossing System; Tag-A-Long Die-Cutting System; Bigkick Shape-Cutting Embossing Machine; Sizzix Die Cutting Machine have all been designed and built with the crafter in mind. They are designed to provide a convenient way to die-cut, and with a system converter (sold separately) to emboss using a wide array of shapes, letters and numbers with Sizzlit cutting dies and embossing dies. Scrapbook die-cutting and embossing at home couldnt be easier. You can find these great products by Ellison Design at most craft and scrapbooking supply stores. Ellison also produces the Prestige Pro, Prestige Space Saver and Allstar. These additional products are sold and used mainly by schools, but offer a great resouce if you want to spend the additional money.

Wizzard Die Cut & Embossing Machine

The Wizzard Personal Die-cut Embossing System is manufactured by Spellbinders. This machine is both a die-cutter and an embosser. Embossing can be done on various mediums: cardstock, foils, velvet, and suede paper to name a few. With the use of two different universal cut mat kits, you can use dies from other systems like: Sizzix, Sizzlits Embosslets or QuicKuts.

Using the Wizzard is simple. All you do is place your die onto your paper and "sandwich" it with a white and blue cut mat. Feed your "sandwich" into the Wizzard and push through with the handle. Crank the handle, and the machine's ratchet system will move your "sandwich" through. How easy is that?
